International Bromont 2015: Liubov Kochetova wins the first event

Bromont, July 24, 2015 – Russian rider Liubov Kochetova won the first FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale) event at the 2015 International Bromont on Urus 2, today July 24 at the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park.

Many Quebec riders participating

Quebec riders were in majority tonight for the FEI opening event at the fortieth edition of the International Bromont. “The crowd was unbelievable for the riders” stated Roger Deslauriers, Director of the event. “There was a wonderful support for all participants, but especially for Quebec riders.”

Only two rider/horse teams beat the course designed by Leopoldo Palacios (VEN): Russian rider Liubov Kochetova, on her second mount, Urus 2, a 10 year-old Hanoverian gelding, as well as Canadian Jaclyn Duff, also on her second mount, Eh All or None, a 9 year-old Hanoverian gelding. Obstacle 10, a narrow oxer, prevented many teams from making it to the jump off, including Boisbriand’s David Arcand on Reiki du vent, Carignan’s Laurie Bucci on GGN Stauffenberg, as well as Bromont rider Billie Derouet, on her young 8 year-old horse, Bonaparte VP Wisebecq.

Yound rider Olivia D’Errico, gave a nice performance by taking third place on Serenade de Mai, a 9 year-old selle français mare: despite getting the best time in the first round, a bar at the end of the triple combination, the second to last obstacle kept them out of the jump off.

The rider/horse teams will have another chance to compete in a FEI event on Sunday, the Grand Prix, with a purse of $ 75 000.
