Hunter

Hunter jumping is similar to Show Jumping, where the rider/horse team perform on a particular course. However, the obstacles are lower and, in a hunter event, time and jumping faults are not the only aspects the judges consider.

The hunter division also involves dressage and the horse’s flair of movements. Therefore, in addition to time and penalties, the judges evaluate the rider’s equitation skills as well as the poise and regularity of the horse’s gaits.

Moreover, while the Hunter obstacles are similar to those in Show Jumping with verticals and oxers of various colors, the norm is to use natural colors such as while, brown and green.
